Is it normal that my mom wants to meet him?

I'm a freshman in highschool, and my boyfriend and i have been dating for like 3 weeks. Tomorrow is our first real date, we previously saw eachother everyday in school, and we're going to the movies to see the Hangover part II. I was hoping to not make it a big deal and have my 18 year old brother take us and buy tickets, but my mom insists that she has to be the one to take us, and i cant g unless she meets him. My mom is physco, and im scared that she'll scare him away. PLEASE HELP.
