Call a vet to come look at your horse. They could be infected, or could become infected. It is very possible that the horses pasterns were hurt during transport.

I am 19, about 160 lbs., and 5 foot 7. I usually consume about ten 1oz. shots to get a buzz, beer does nothing. I have been drunk several times on about eighteen 1oz. shots within one hour, but I always remember what I did and I never wake up with a hangover. I usually get buzzed off of Southern Comfort which is a 70 proof whiskey/bourbon. The two times I was drunk at a friends house, the 18 shots, was his parents high grade tequila which was 80 proof if I am not mistaken. And finally I was blackout drunk one time at a friends when I consumed 3/4 of a quart, that's 24 oz., in one hour of Evan Williams which was 80 proof if I am not mistaken. I woke up the next morning at about 12 and we had started drinking at 10 the previous night and I fell asleep at about 3 am according to my friends. I was feeling better than I had felt in weeks and according to one of my friends I had face-planted into some concrete bricks he had in the garden behind his house. I did not hurt myself and that was apparently the least harmful thing I had attempted, with others including fighting, running in said garden patch, drowning, and various other activities one would not try sober. So I don't know what is going on, why do I feel good, why am I not hurt, why didn't I have a hangover, and most importantly why am I still alive when my BAC should have been above .5 when a BAC of .4 would kill a normal person?

Okay, so I have exactly one week until my big horse show, and I have been training so hard, I completely forgot about the costume class! A few weeks ago I had a UTI and I was placed on antibiotics for treatment for a week. My period was supposed to start on the 2nd day of taking them and it didn't. I am sexually active. We do not use condoms nor am I on any type of birth control but he does pull out before ejaculation. I have been experiencing cramping since the day I was supposed to start but no cycle started. While on a trip, I got a sunburn on the core of my body so I applied aloe vera on my stomach to take some of the stinging away and passed out on the floor. Then my boyfriend made me take an at home pregnancy test when I got back home (right after sex but we decided to take it because I was 2 weeks late so not because we wanted to know right away after just doing it... just to make that clear) and it came out positive. We decided that because of the stress I am currently in with my household such as family issues and the stress that my body is trying to recover from my sunburn, could have an effect on my cycle. i have a 15 year old off the track Thoroughbred, he has been off for 4 years i have had him 1 year. the lady i got him from was treating him for stomach ulcers when i got him. he used to be on two scoops of grain a day, roughly 4 lbs, 12 pounds of alfalfa cubes and 14 pounds of good grass hay. HE WAS A HEALTHY WEIGHT. this spring he got an abscess in each front hoof, and lost a lot of weight. that was two months ago. we put him on 4 scoops of grain (DOUBLE), weight supplement, 1/4 pound of rice bran, 1 pound of beet pulp, 12 pounds of alfalfa, and all the grass hay he could possibly consume. two months later when he put on little weight but we are still struggling for a healthy weight. when i asked my mom about the possibility of stomach ulcers, she yelled at me for being paranoid and over thinking the situation, she refuses to even consider that there could be a problem. im scared because we are going on vacation for two weeks and she wants to cut his grain in half (which would destroy any weight i managed to put on him!!) and keep him out side for our whole vacation.

Help on growing out a horse's tail?

My mare had a tail that was decent in length but it thinned out towards the end, So i chopped off the part of her tail that was thinned out because i'd rather have a horse with a short tail for a little while rather than have a tail that became really thin towards the bottom. I would like to know if chopping a little of her tail would help her tail grow a bit longer....and how often i should groom her tail...i use a conditioner before i brush it so i don't really pull any strands of hair out except a few.....And would braiding it every time i ride(couple times a week) cause more breakage, i braid loosely.

I would suggest going to try him out at the place he is currently boarding at to see if his and your personalities work well together and if he is the type of ride you are looking for. Never buy a horse without trying them and comparing them with other choices that you may have found. But i think he is worth going to try and see. Hes very cute!

So I understand that to get a definitive answer I need to go to a doctor but I'm hoping to get at least some kind of idea what's going on. I'm a 21 year old, usually healthy female. For a little over a week I have been sick. I had a hangover 9 days ago and I got MUCH sicker than I should have (Granted I felt a little sick two days before). Is my navel piercing becoming infected?

About 2 1/2 weeks ago I got my navel pierced. Under neath the top part of the piercing there is a blister there. Around the top part of the jewelry there is a small red circle surrounding it, but the bottom isn't like that. I have an arab cross with unknown lines and unknown parents. He's a rescue and is 2 years old approximately. When we took him on he was black and has steadily been getting lighter into tan colors like a typical bleaching out dark bay horse but I've had a few people say he will gray out. It doesn't matter to me either way. When will he start showing if he's going to turn out to be gray or not? Wouldn't he already be showing signs of graying out? He's got some white spots on his withers but that's it. When he gets bitten in the pasture, the hair grows back dark black.

How do I get rid of Oral Thrush of the lips?

Ive been drinking for about a year now, and I'm 19. I don't drink that much, to be honest, maybe at most 2 times a week to start out with. But when I did drink I would often reach or go in excess of 8 drinks a week. There have been two periods in this year, 2 months long each where I haven't drunk at all due to extenuating circumstances. The past six months I haven't drunk nearly as much as I did since August of last year. However, in this year of drinking, I've had at least three nights of blackout or almost blackout memory loss and two days after which really bad hangovers occurred, including vomiting, etc. How much brain/liver damage has this caused?

I feel angry and worried (anxiety) all the time. I suffer from Anxiety Disorder, but i just got off 6 months medication. At the same time, i lost my best friend. Experience with putting a cast on a horse?

I worked for a vet for four years and only ever saw one horse with a cast on. It was a young thoroughbred colt that was born with retracted tendons. He had surgery to correct the retracted tendon on one of his front legs and had a cast on it. He was unable to bend his knee, therefore was unable to walk on his own. There was staff with him around the clock to feed him milk out of a bucket, lift him to his feet and walk him around the barn aisle for exercise. He could walk with his other legs okay, but we had to loop a lead rope around the leg in the cast and pull it out to the side and place it in front of him with every stride. He then needed help laying back down. He needed tended to every two hours and we had to flip him over ever so often to make sure he wasn't always laying on the same side. Little Philip never "messed up" his cast. It was applied at the clinic immediately following his surgery but I imagine the vet could bring the supplies to your farm instead of having you trailer an injured horse. However, if you can afford it, you may want to trailer him in and let him stay with the vet for a while if it's an injury that severe and if he is as high maintenance with a cast on as Philip was. It was hard enough to care for him with a full staff of veterinary employees. I can't imagine trying to care for him on my own. But you have to keep in mind that every case is different. Just listen to your vet's recommendations, follow their instructions, and hope for a fast recovery!

About 2 1/2 weeks ago I got my navel pierced. Ketoacidosis is a very serious condition and needs immediate treatment in hospital - a patient can die from it within 24 hours so if your test results are correct then he needs to be immediately admitted to hospital and treated with a glucose drip and insulin infusion - this needs to be done by a dr who is experienced in insulin therapy. To be honest I don't know what kind of answer you're looking for here - you speak like you're a dr trying to diagnose a patient? Maybe you should refer him to another dr with more experience of metabolic disease? Hope that helps and he gets the treatment he needs xx

Dream of creepy gross guy trying to kill me and siblings?

I lived in a small hamlet called red earth creek. it is a rig town surrounded by a bunch of reservations. the whole 5 years that i was there, i had a recurring dream that there was a tall, lanky, dirty man with long blonde hair and he was trying to kill me. i was always doing really impossible feats, such as pulling myself into my room from 20 feet, etc. then after a couple years, my sisters and brother were involved too and i was always trying to keep them safe. in the last 2 years of living there, my parents bought horses and we had a wooden fence in the yard. it was always snowy outside with the dim, kind of weird winter night light outside. we were always safe in the fence or in the shadow of my dads company truck. it was like he couldn't see us but was always stalking right on the edge of the fence or shadow waiting for us to make a move. it was endless and when we started to get tired from running and climbing and jumping from the ground to the trailer and back, he would get one of my sisters or brother and i would try to stop him but before i could do anything about him being there, i woke up. i was between 12 and17 when i lived there and my siblings are from 1 to 8 years younger then me (3 sisters and a brother). my parents never woke up while we were being chased. it was kind of disturbing for me as a teenager to have a continuing dream this horrific. and since i have moved from red earth i haven't had it since. i was wondering if there was any meaning to be found in a dream of this context and if anybody could tell me what it means?

Well i have learned my lesson at 17 not to drink alcohol ever again. About 2 1/2 weeks ago I got my navel pierced. I know I shouldn't but from the clear liquid that secretes out of the injection sites the jewelry gets stuck to my skin so I end up moving the barbell up and down to loosen it from my skin. Under neath the top part of the piercing there is a blister there. Around the top part of the jewelry there is a small red circle surrounding it, but the bottom isn't like that. It does not hurt unless if something accidentally rubs against it. Sometimes white puss comes out (on either end of the barbell) but not often; it usually looks like water coming out. I clean it with H2Ocean and a Q-Tip 3 times a day. Does any of this mean it is getting infected? If not will the blister go away on its own, or do I need to do something to make it go away?

Is my pet rat dying? Please help.?

My 2 year 2 month old rat, Jelly, weighs about 300-400 gms and since it started getting warm, has begun to grow increasingly inactive. I figured it was the heat when he started falling asleep in his food-bowl right after I would give him his vegetables. He was relatively fine till this afternoon, when he stopped scarpering around as he normally does at feeding time, and just kept sleeping. I tried getting him out a few times but he just crawled back into his cage. His breathing is very erratic, and he's secreting a clear mucous-like thing from his mouth constantly. He is also not eating. He keeps pushing his food away and upturning his food-bowl. I really do not know what the matter is and I'm scared of jostling him too much. Is he dying? If so, is he in pain? to be honest, there isn't much to halter classes to begin with. It is just a matter of walking and trotting your horse on a lead and having it square up for the judge. Showmanship (another version of halter) is just a pattern you memorize before you go into the ring. The basics of halter: walk, trot, backup, square up. Squaring up you can do at home by moving your horse's feet to the right position. Every horse knows how to walk on a lead if it is halter broke..and we teach our horses to trot by running and tugging on the lead to get them to catch up with us. Backing up, just put pressure on its chest and make it back up..practice practice practice!
