What do I need to get?

I've given up on that stupid old fart I was riding. Theres a horse in the pasture beside my house. This old man lives there and never rides him but he always rides the other black and white one he has. I bet the other horse wants to be rided too! So i'm going to get him from the old man and ride him myself so he knows he's loved too! What do I need? I'm planning to ride him naturally bareback and bridless like in the movies. What do I need to get to ride him?
