Type 1 Diabetes, Can you check this and see if it is right?
Type 1 diabetes is an extreme condition that really develops over a few weeks or a couple of months at most - so if he has had these symptoms for a while then it's not type 1 diabetes. I'm not sure what you mean by 'A6' but initial tests can be done by a urine dip stick - dka is obvious and shows up as a deep purple for keetones. However, keetones can occur for reasons other than diabetes so this alone is not a definite diabetes test. Ketoacidosis is a very serious condition and needs immediate treatment in hospital - a patient can die from it within 24 hours so if your test results are correct then he needs to be immediately admitted to hospital and treated with a glucose drip and insulin infusion - this needs to be done by a dr who is experienced in insulin therapy. To be honest I don't know what kind of answer you're looking for here - you speak like you're a dr trying to diagnose a patient? Maybe you should refer him to another dr with more experience of metabolic disease? Hope that helps and he gets the treatment he needs xx
